- What Denomination or Doctrinal Position does your school take?
We try to make the course as non-denominational as possible by encouraging people to look up verses themselves, and then comment on them. We have long believed in "searching the Scriptures daily" and allowing the Bible to speak for itself. The NZCSB is a ministry run out of the Marlborough Bible Baptist Church in Blenheim, New Zealand. For more information on our beliefs as well as our church's statement of faith, take a look at our church website www.mbbc.org.nz
- Is the course NZQA approved? Will I earn credits by completing this course?
Unfortunately, due to the size of the school and cost of becoming an NZQA approved institution, it is not practical for us to become approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority. Furthermore, we believe that doing so would open us up to challenges and pressures to become more politically correct, rather than Biblically correct.
However, this is not to say that our course is of poor quality! Many people have testified (and we happen to agree with them) that our school is one of the best when it comes to a building a solid, biblical, foundation.
- Why don't you accept overseas students?
Our school is run by volunteers and to accept students from overseas would easily overwhelm us. Also, the mere cost of sending mail to and from most overseas destinations would be huge! However, we do offer the entire course in one volume which is shipping and handling friendly. You will find that the cost of the Line Upon Line Bible Study Curriculum is less than what you would pay to send mail back and forth between your home and the school. For more information, visit Verity Charity Publications at
www.veritycharity.com
- What costs are involved with the school?
There are no tuition fees, no membership, no processing fees etc. The only cost involved is mailing the lessons to and from the school (you are responsible for postage both to and from us). If you request a free Bible after completing level one, there is a small charge to cover shipping that to you as well. Students also have access to a good selection of books in our bookstore - if you are after a good book on a particular topic then let us know - we may have just what you are after!
- What do I do if I want to cancel my course?
We're sorry to see you go, but if you want to cancel your course then send an email or letter to us with your name, student id, and address and we will remove you from our system. We would greatly appreciate you giving us some feedback as to why you cancelled your course so we can perhaps improve it.
- I have a Bible question. How do I find the answer?
Post it on our Community Forum (available for students and non-students) and one of our moderators or students will answer it for you.
- Can I get a student loan or allowance?
Because the course is not NZQA rubber stamped, and also because we charge no fees other than postage, it is not possible for students of this course alone to get a student loan or allowance from the government.
- How long will the course take to complete?
The course covers just about every verse of the Bible. As you can imagine, studying through the entire Word of God is quite a monumental (but extremely rewarding) feat!
Having said that, it has been known for some students to complete the course in under three years but you can expect to set aside a bit more time if you really want to search and understand the word of God. Keep in mind, this course represents a lifetime of Bible study. Completing may not be an easy task but there is no time limit and a few people opt from the beginning to only do a few levels.
Of all the things to learn in the world, is it not reasonable to devote the time to learn the very word's of God?
- Is it possible to study the books in an order differently to what you have in your course curriculum? Or is it possible to study only particular book?
We designed the level system to start with the easy books and progressively build your way up to the more difficult ones (doctrinally speaking). We therefore encourage students to stick with the system. Also, you will find that many lessons build on principles and topics covered in earlier lessons - in other words, by skipping back and forth you may find it difficult to understand the notes. Think of it as learning how to do algebra when you skipped over learning your times tables in school. Therefore, we strongly recommend starting with the first lesson and working your way through the course systematically. Don't worry, you will eventually get to that book of Leviticus you have been wanting to study so badly - and you will probably have picked up some stuff that will help you from studying Exodus earlier on in the course.
- Is there a timetable for submitting my lessons?
There is no official timetable for submitting a lesson as the course is study at your own pace. However, we do recommend that students get into a regular pattern of study and aim to submit assignments on a regular basis. The first few levels are pretty short - one per week would be a good goal. Later levels are more comprehensive and require more study.
- I love these lessons and would like to use them in a Bible study or care cell group! Is it possible to photocopy or get multiple copies of these lessons?
Sure, we would love to let you use the course for a Bible study. We would prefer it if you contact us in order to request some lessons to be sent to you rather than just outright photocopying them. We would also encourage you to invite your group to enrol in the course so they can have their lessons graded as we do not allow the answer key outside of the office for obvious reasons. We are also looking at putting together a group Bible study pack so people can study the NZCSB in their church care cell or small Bible study group. If you are interested in this then we would really appreciate hearing from you - please contact us via the contact us page of this website.
- Is the course available to students who speak a different language?
Thanks to the Lord who has provided some dedicated men and women to translate, we are pleased to be able to offer select lessons of the Correspondence School in Chinese, Spanish, French, and Portuguese. They are available for free digital download in PDF format from Verity Charity Publications at the link below.
However, please note that these are the PDF files only - the course is still open only to NZ residents and we don't have the capabilities to mark lessons in languages other than English. If you wanted to mark the lessons of your own students yourself however, we would love to hear from you. Perhaps we can work together towards extending the reach of this ministry. Please contact us for more information. You are, of course, welcome to print and distribute the lessons yourself. If you are printing / distributing large quantities (more than 50 lessons)then please drop us a line first.
The files can be found here. (www.veritycharity.com)
